PTI Forest Products By Rail - Project Management

PTI has assisted large landowners and government agencies transport large volumes of logs long distances, helping them realize value that other wise wouldn't be recoverable. The projects generally relate to natural disasters such as forest fires, hurricanes, and droughts.

PTI has performed other projects relating to the conversion of railcars for log use such as building and adding log bunks and tie downs.

Assistance offered includes:

Consulting and advising on locating transload locations, RR contacts, finding customers

Negotiating rail rates and routes with the RR's

Providing equipment such a railcars, log handling equipment

Full service transload and transportation

PTI has performed many projects from which to draw experience. The most notable project was the transportation of logs from trees killed in Arizona's Rodeo-Chediski forest fire in 2003. 3,120 rail cars of logs were transported via unit trains from Arizona to Northern California over the span of 4 months. Assets utilized included over 500 log rail cars, two log yards, 4 log shovels and 3 988 log loaders. Paneltech hired and managed all the employees necessary to set up many of the log cars, and once operations started, to unload the log trucks, stack the logs, and load the railcars.
